They've had my wife's passport for 70 days now. DM2 isn't even showing yet on Ecas yet.

Just a question, are you going through HK or Beijing?

Thanks for the quick update. We are going through Beijing.

We've had a nightmare experience though - initially declined at the interview stage/appealed/appeal allowed/documents lost by China Post...

We're actually coming up to the 2 year anniversary of when we initially applied. Needless to say, pretty tired of waiting.

If the visa office is sending the applicant some documents, do they use the Chinese address labels that we were instructed to include? We included the labels with the address in Chinese characters in an effort to avoid any potential problems...e-cas shows the address, but the room number shows first and the building number at the end...surely they'll use the Chinese address labels, right???

So worried that China Post will screw things up and not deliver to the correct address...

Yes, they use your labels that you provided with your Application.

Hey everyone,

My wife got her DM2 today! So excited!

To recap:

They have had her passport since August 10th, 2012 (so they had it for a total of 34 days before making the decision). Now we just have to wait until they send her the passport.

Quick question:

We have moved to a new condo (still in same city of Ningbo, China) and have updated our address on the ECAS website. However, we did that in late July and still on the site it shows our old address.

Does anyone have any suggestions? We filled out the email form from the website and got a confirmation email, but it's been like 6 six weeks and the address displayed on their website still shows our old one.

Case specific e-mail.

I ain't moving...I don't care if the lease expires and I get kicked out...I'll pitch a tent...

No development since the home address change in eCAS. We have to change our plan now. We were expecting a move on September 25 but it is not possible anymore as she has to resign for her job first. New plan is for October 23; just hope it won't take longer to get the passport!

Hey, have you received the passport yet? We got the DM2 on Sept 12, 2012 and are trying to guess when it will arrive. In China, they use EMS to deliver the passport and as we have used this service before, we know that the EMS delivery guy will call when he's at your home.

We were reading a few posts and it seems that the closer you live to Beijing, the quicker you get the passport back. One person got it the day after their DM2!

We want to be in Canada by Thanksgiving but am not sure if that's possible. If you can, please post when you get your passport. We live just south of Shanghai, so hopefully hers comes soon.

Cheers!

Still waiting for it. We are not alone. It seems to be jammed fro everyone there. My wife knows someone that lives in Beijing and they are at the same point as we are. Tomorrow, we will be at 4 weeks since we've received DM2 and 3 weeks since home address changed in eCAS.

We heard that after one month, we can start complaining to the embassy so it is the plan for the week.

If you have to wait like us, I doubt you will be able to do it for Thanksgiving. But, maybe you will be lucky and you will part of the next batch which hopefully will include ours.

We're sending my wife's passport tomorrow to the HK visa office. The PPR letter stated it takes 20 working days for them to send it back. I guess we'll get it back by the end of October.

What's the longest anyone has heard of for the visa office to return the passport? In our case, I am 100% sure the visa has been approved, so just curious as to the length of time it usually takes for them to return the passport.

They send out passports in batches? How did you find this out? It makes sense I guess, but it also seems unnecessary. It seems to be that waiting for 4 weeks or more is unacceptable. I guess they have their reasons, but I think the better way to do it is to send the passport out as soon as the decision is made.

At the very least, I don't know why they don't better explain the process just to give people peace of mind.

I can't tell if they do it in batch. It is only that we are many waiting since August 20 from family sponsorship cases.

I forgot to congratulate last time so Congratulations! You may have the chance to wait just a couple of weeks and do as you plan. I wish it for you.

We started to send emails and fax on a daily basis expecting them to come back with something.

It seems really random. My wife just told me this morning that there were a few people who got decision made on Aug 27th and 28th received their passports yesterday.

There must be a method to the madness, but it's anyone's guess as to what it is.

It seems that it took half the time for them to make the 2nd decision for than it did for you.

I really want my wife to get her passport, but I hope you get yours first. Only seems fair IMO.

Beijing answered one of my emails today. Here is what they sent me:

Please be advised that your application has been finalised and that you
will receive the visa(s), passport(s) and other documents by EMS in the
coming weeks to the mailing address on your file. Please be patient and
wait for the mail to arrive. Please note that if you are represented by
an agent it is our department's policy to use the agent's mailing
address for all official documents such as Medical Instructions and
Visa(s).

[...]
On behalf of the Department of Citizenship and Immigration, we extend
our best wishes to you and your family for a happy and prosperous life
in Canada.

Congratulations!

But why has it taken so long to issue the visa and return the passport? It's been more than 2 months! That's out of order.

I'm also wondering what they mean by 'in the coming weeks'...so it could be weeks until you receive the passport back? Again, out of order.

In Hong Kong, most people receive their passport back after 1 month...the longest I have heard of was 1.5 months. Perhaps Beijing takes longer because they ask for the passport a bit earlier in the process than Hong Kong? That's my guess, anyway.

At least you have confirmation that you have the visa!! Wicked!

I think it is exceptional. I heard many people who received back their passport within a week after DM2.

I've just booked the flight for October 23. I'm confident we will have it by that date.
