LMO processing times are now averaging 10 to 12 weeks in BC, Alberta and Ontario.

There is no online process for checking the status of an LMO application. Only the employer can contact Service Canada for updates.

Names no longer appear on LMOs a worker uses to apply for work permits. However, employers do get an Annex with the worker's name but are instructed to only keep this for their records and NOT to supply it to anyone for Privacy purposes. When CIC checks the LMO confirmation number in their system, they will be able to see the worker's name.

Had just a talked with my employer the other week. My LMO was filed last March 19 in Ontario. She said that it might take around 8-12 weeks -- As confirmed by rjessome's post.

But I'm still hoping to have it earlier so that I could submit my application for TWP for processing.

@cabalen

Depends on the position that you're employer is applying for and depends where he/she applied it. For kitchen helper base on our experience only 2wks applied at BC, for front desk clerk 3 weeks but the standard is 8-12wks, our employer mentioned Fast Track application for our LMO to Service Canada coz she really needs us soon.

Thanks Buleg! I'm not sure if my employer knows about the Fast Track application. I'll let them do what they think is best for them and I'll just wait. For semi-skilled, I think it is faster. My position will be an engineer. I'm not quite sure how this will take. So while waiting for a positive LMO. I am preparing all the requirements for my TWP.

My employer just gave me the file number for the LMO.

Can I use this file number already to apply for my TWP or do I need get a positive LMO first? Thanks!

Hi cabelen I found this on the HRSDC website!
"Recommend to foreign nationals to submit their work permit applications (both new and renewals) only when the employer has confirmation from Service Canada that a positive LMO has been issued. However, renewal applications must be submitted to
CIC prior to the work permit expiry date."

http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/index.shtml
Hope this helps! ::)

@djchad

I've received my positive LMO last June 20, 2012. I am now waiting for my work permit Visa.

To give you more info. My employer used the accelerated LMO during the second month of waiting for the LMO. Not sure how is this process. They just informed me.
