Check application status tool

Has anyone used the "Check application status" tool? http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/status.asp

I tried several times but it always gave me error message saying that "We are not able to identify you". What would be the problem? I could log in my GC account and see the application tho.

This doesn't work for express entry anymore. it was replaced by your CIC account "Check Progress".
