29/11/2010 Sponsorship approved, PR app sent to Singapore
According to the postal company my application reached it's destination (Mississauga CPC) about 2 weeks ago. The total processing time(for the sponsorship part) is supposed to be about a month I read many places. But when I try to check the application status online using the receipt number, my last name, and date of birth etc, it says it can't find anything. Is this normal or has my application been lost or had some sort of unusual delay?
The receipt number is the one in the top right corner of the printable receipt by the bar code right? Surname/Family name" just means last name right? (on the check application status page)

So in a normal case my application should be nearly half-processed by now after 2 months no? Or does that 3x day period mean the length of time before they start processing it?

Sorry, in the second last sentence I meant to say

"my application should be nearly half-processed by now after 2 weeks no?"

Not 2 months.

Theoretically, yes. Most seem to be getting "decision made" updates on their e-CAS after about 28 to 30 days, and then have to wait a week or two for the actual decision letter to arrival by snail mail.

However, you will not actually be able to even log into your e-CAS to check the status of your sponsorship application in Mississauga until AFTER they have already opened it, processed it, and made a decision. The process itself goes so quickly (well, relatively) that they don't bother entering an application's status into e-CAS until a decision has already been reached. I've seen the scattered post here and there that suggests that, actually, it takes most of that processing time for them to even get to an application and open it; them making a decision is actually almost immediate, since the criteria for sponsorship applications to be approved is generally very straightforward.

So if it's already been 2 weeks, hang in there for another 2-3 weeks. That would be around the time that people normally are able to log in. For reference, my application should have been there by October 7. I couldn't even log into my e-CAS until November 11, at which point it said they didn't officially mark my package as received until October 12, but had made a decision by November 9. Now I'm just waiting around for the decision letter to arrive in the mail.

Edit: In the meantime, you could sign up for matthewc's automatic e-CAS tracker, too: https://ecas.carroll.org.uk/. That way you don't have to keep checking your e-CAS yourself several times a day, wondering when you'll be able to log in. It will contact you by email the second your e-CAS account becomes active, and then anytime after that when there's an update or addition to your file.

@lenardparnold

Make sure you are using the sponsor's details (family name, date of birth etc) to log in instead of the applicant's.
Best of luck
