Hello -

I am a U.S. citizen and have been in Canada visiting my Canadian citizen BF since October 2014, this past weekend we flew to Vegas and got married, we are back in Canada now and ready to start gathering everything to start an outland PR application but I have a few questions.

Should I change my name on my U.S passport and social security card in the U.S before I even start to apply? Also do I request FBI check and get medicals done before and send in with my application?

I am sure there is somewhere on this forum that shows how others are applying and what they are sending in and what steps to take when, but I am missing it??

Thanks!

You don't need to change your name. And if u do so before sending in your application it could delay your sending in your application while your waiting for all of your new identification.

I agree with Tink. Leave it until you get your papers. You can change your corp etc after . Even as a sponsor I didn't change my name to make things simpler for my husbands application.
