for immigration and that too economic, if you have to select the candidates based on the merit.

You do buy the pr if it's given to you post degree.

I worked very hard for 4 years for my degree, but I was always going to do it. If I had gone to Canada to study it would have cost the same. My ECAS has got the Canadian equivalent so why not give me the pr?

The higher bonus points, the higher the level of education to be fair. Not all will get the same bonus points.

For professional degrees/master, it is so tough to gain entry, going through a tough application processing, passing tough exams...

okay. So they have defined the scam - if you buy the education to become a confirmed PR is not a scam, but if you buy a job to become a PR is scam.
what can i tell you? Have you seen the tuition fee for an international student in most canadian universities compared to domestic students? It is huge! Of couse they want people to enroll and pay for it, it is some sort of bussiness and let me tell ya' they are not going to close that bussiness because of an immigration program. They would open a stream for graduates just to keep people coming to study in canada.you may not agree but that s life

If Quebec has that provision, then why the students didn't go there for the education?

Because people want to immigrate on federal level, not stuck on a particular province. In fact, there were complaints from McGill students as after their studies they were not eligible under Express Entry because of no work experience. They wanted to have the same treatment on federal side either. They thought it would have been the same like in Québec...

Folks...you are missing a point....those international students who gets the point will be happy....those who does not will argue and will say the system is rigged...like trump.....about the email check....

Going for educations and then demanding the PR as a right is nothing less than buying... ;D

Totally agreed! These intl students demand like that PR is their right just because they studied in Canada. When you get a student visa it is the condition of it that you should leave the country by the time your study end. And they demand for PR.

The government even realize about credential issue; that's why they want students in their target.

none of them are able to answer how will you differentiate between a good ranked university graduate vs moderate ranked university. Same for the diploma. Those international students (not worth), who does not get anything...they will still argue and protest because of their investments.... :D

Are you saying give the points to all international students? it does not matter the university???

And still the government agree with them...lol

Lol I see so many angry people here either against Int's Students point or with that decision, however none what you say or do is going to change Gov. Decision.

Students get 2 yrs work permit to earn back the amount they spend during their studies. All countries do this and do not give away PR. If they start giving PR or additional points to Students than from tomorrow morning the Airports will be full of students, with a secured future. Student Visa we can get on 20 days and that too with academic IELTS. What will the govt do than?

So I dont think it will be practically viable with that ease. All of us in the pool will take a student visa and be there in a month....PR is guaranteed than. ( just study one yr and work one yr...points added and you are PR )

Express Entry fails than. ;) ;) ;)

It can only be made possible by making a separate category for Intl Students for Immigration which will again be as tough as EE.

So why pay these fees in Canada. Cant they study in their country of origin with low fees. Who told them to study in Canada? If their motive is that they get quality education and with canadian education they will excel with it anywhere in the world than they have to pay the fees and they are paying it rightly. But just because to become a PR then it is buying because you are not interested in education and just want PR.
