Transitional cases: I applied under 4/6 but I am over 54, will I still be required to write the test?
Yes, according to section 17.1 and 18 of Bill C-6, the rules when you applied are relevant.

that's sad. All those who thought they didn't have to take the test, keep studying!!!
Just like the "intent to reside" requirement...!
I am sure the IRCC system can identify all transitional cases aged over 54, it will reduce their processing time of pre C6 if they reduce the number of applicants needing a test post Oct 11....

I appreciate if @spyfy or anyone else can comment on this:
My spouse and I will become eligible at the same time with this new 3/5 rule. Most of our trips in the past 5 years have been together. Is there any reason why we shouldn't apply as family application? I heard about delays to one applicant affecting the other applicant in family cases, but I have also heard that applying as two separate application may raise suspicion and lead to RQ.
I understand that there is not right/wrong answer here just want to here a third person opinion on this. Thanks.

My head is spinning today as I cannot decide whether I should sign and send my application on Oct 11, 2017 or Oct 12, 2017. Small difference, but at the same time - big difference.

Here is what I cannot understand.

We are supposed to be eligible a day before we sign. So we have 2 scenarios here:

1. We sign on Oct 11, 2017 but we were not eligible Oct 10, 2017 since on Oct 10, 2017 the old rules were in place - application may get returned.

2. We sign on Oct 11, 2017 and we are eligible as of Oct 10, 2017 since the new rules are in place and we can forget about the old rules since all we need is 3 years. So as long as we have 3 years, according to the new rules, as of October 10, 2017, we should be fine.

I really hope IRCC clarifies this question that I am sure a lot of people are wondering about.

Any thoughts? Is there anybody who decided they are going to sign the application on Oct 11,2017 for sure?

Thanks buddy. But I was resident in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi does not accept online applications In Dubai they also need credit cards issued in one of the GCCs!!!! Have you done it before?

Even if resident of abu Dhabi , you can also apply to dubai police. the certificate is federal .

my passport expire 1 year ago and still expire what explanation should i provide

If you can wait for a day an sign the application, nothing like it...why to take so much tension...just my two cents..

I did not have a passport/travel document before I became a PR and only recently have been issued a Travel Document by Passport Canada. There is a two year gap between when I received my PR and when I received a Travel Document. Is this something I need to thoroughly explain in the application?

I strongly think it is the second scenario. On October 11,2017 , 4/6 years rule will be scraped like it never existed. Therefore, on October 11, you will need 3/5 years as of October 10th to qualify.

Better to sign on the 12th because lots of people will make mistakes just cause they wanna meet oct 11
