When we filed our application, we said that we want to land in Toronto, because my partner's family is there. We'd still like to land there and spend a little time with them, but then we're now thinking that we'd like to go to Nova Scotia and settle down there.

Is it a big issue to change where we want to live, from a PR card etc. point of view? (we still plan to land a spend a little while in Toronto. Our plans re Nova Scotia aren't 100% final anyway)

You can land in Toronto, spend some days there with family and go wherever you like except qubec. Your PR Card will be reaching on the address what is given already. You have to manage how you get it.

Should be no problem, at POE you give them an address to send the PR card too. If this is the family address, just get them to send the cards on when they arrive.

Once you have your approval and visa, really there are no hidden problems after that.

Welcome to Canada.

Thanks a million everyone, that's great to know! We thought we'd settle in Toronto at the time we applied, but it's nice that we have the freedom to choose elsewhere (except Quebec) if we want to. We may still settle in Toronto, but Nova Scotia looks awfully inviting too.

Haven't landed yet, but I already love Canada ;)

We've seen some great job opportunities in Halifax. If we did move there instead of Toronto, can we just land in Halifax instead of Toronto? (I put Toronto on the application, and my partner's family is there, but as mentioned we might then head to Nova Scotia now instead.).

With 3 cats and luggage in tow, it seems a bit of a hassle to land in Toronto, then travel to Nova Scotia, when we could fly there direct.

Do I actually need to land and spend time in Toronto first, if that's what I put on my application? Or do I need permission to change the landing destination before we go, if we decide to go directly to Nova Scotia instead?

Thanks!

Has anyone had experience of landing elsewhere than originally intended? Do they ask why you've changed your landing destination?

:)

If we fly to Halifax (connecting to a domestic flight Toronto Pearson), do I have to officially ''land'' in Toronto for immigration / PR purposes, or will they hold off until we arrive in Halifax and get the IOs there to do the official landing paperwork?

Secondly, is there going to be an issue if I have to land in Toronto, then immediately get a connecting flight to Halifax (where we will probably now move, instead of Toronto as stated on application)?

You will have the immigration checking to the first port of entry in Canada which is TORONTO. What is stated in your CPR? I think there's No Issue on that coz what matters is changes in Marriage status, death, separation, divorce, birth of a child.

You just need to land at a POE in Canada it does not state you must land in Toronto just you must land in Canada before you visa expires. So you can go right to Halifax if you like. The drive from Toronto to Halifax is 19 hours straight drive. That might not be good after a flight.
