Hi folks,

I'm Amitoj Arora. I've been working as a full time freelance Web designer on Upwork (American freelance marketplace) since 2013.

But I've done my bachelors in commerce unfortunately. So, there is a study - work experience mis-match here.

I was interested to apply for PR through PNP program. So, I met few local immi agents and they all have different thoughts on my ELIGIBILITY and CHANCES to get PR with the details shared above.

Some say the study work experience mis-match makes me ineligible to even apply for PR under PNP or FSW or even others.

Some say it isn't a problem at all as I've enough experience in my web design field which will is good enough to surpass the condition of having relevant education.

That left me confused about what to believe and which direction to follow.

So, I reached here finally expecting you all expert members to help me out clearing my confusion and give me the right path to follow please.

As we all know PR process involves money and time, I don't want to spend both if there ain't high chances of getting PR in my case.

Looking forward to hear from you soon. Early detailed reverts will be of great help and will be highly appreciated.

Cheers

You are still eligible. There can be a mismatch between education and work experience.

Your chances of getting PR is a different matter. That will depend on factors such as your overall points, etc.

Hi Scylla,

Many thanks for a quick revert that too encouraging one.

Would you mind sharing any link from Canada Immigration portal which proves my eligibility despite having non relevant work experience.

Here is my full profile details for your reference:
1. Age - 32
2. Education - B.com, CA(i), CS(i)
3. Experience - 2013 to present
4. Profession - Freelance Web designer (Upwork)
5. IELTS score I can get easily - anything within 6 to 7 bands
6. Family: Wife & a 4 yr old son
7. Wife age & education: 31, B.com
8. Her english proficiency - Conversational, can score around 5 to 6 bands easily.

My major concern is Study Work experience mis-match...

So, any documentary proof from any PR program website, supporting my eligibility would help not become a prey to any fraud agent.

FYI, I did ask them which province would you apply my PR for. They said, we may prefer applying to Manitoba primarily in addition to many others if and when required.

Thanks

You can calculate your estimated EE score using the IRCC Express Entry calculator. This is the tool provided by the government. The tool will tell you if you are not eligible.

For IELTS, you should really aim to score as high as you can so that you get as many points as you can. 6 is a low score and 7 isn't great either. Focus on scoring as high as you can since there are other factors in your profile that will reduce your score (e.g. age, lack of a master's).
