Your resume is a key job hunting tool used to get a job interview and the best resume wil not get you the job, you'll need to convince the employer during the job interview.

Not only is yr resume a vital component to getting an interview, there are numerous factors such as yr skills sets, yr qualifications, yr English proficiency level, yr English accent and ability to communicate flawlessly in the Canadian context and also yr Canadian experience. If u have none of the above all integrated into one, then i would safely say that u can forget it about landing a job unless u are "God send" and lucky!

Dont ever dream of using yr Indian qualifications here, its completely and totally ignored by employers here. So forget about yr so called "MBA" which is of no value at all here!

I don't have an MBA, I have landed two months ago in ALberta. Applied very conservatively at 4 Places. Recieved calls from interview from all the four places, refused at one place due to non experience in that field. Selected at other three places and now is the critical time to select the where to join. Yes, I speak fluent english and have a pool of experience from UK. But more than that I believe in ME.

If you do that you will succeed. Remember dosen't matter where you are educated from, if you truly have the knowledge you will sail. Few important things

1. Resume (Make Sure it is made properly as per AMerican Standards)

2. You must have good knowledge of the language.

3. Get some info on ICE Hockey

4. Be patient.

All the Best

My husband had a B.Sc.degree *not from canada* he came here and went to college in computer science. He landed a job as a computer engineer but it was the combination of his degree and coming here and doing college that landed him the job. So it really depends on how you ADD to your degree.

Congrads on finding a job so easily cause u followed the principles those listed above and i believe u did a good job on looking for a job cause u are from a developed country, which i believe u have plenty of transferable skills such as excellent English communications skills and a great resume coupled with some good experience from UK. These combination will work for most people with yr background but sadly, most new immigrants or those coming to look for jobs do not have what u possess. First of these would be good English communication skills, secondly, would be a great resume, not only tailored for the Canadian job market but also not having those qualifications from developed countries. You will notice most of these people would be from developing or less developed countries whose qualifications are not recognized here and do not even match the standards of education here, and of course, most of these people, do not even speak proper English, not to mentioned, write well.

Not everyone needs a great piece of qualification to succeed here but at least, they should possess some relevant skills, technical skills or some good English language skills to land a decent job here. And of course, lots of assimilation and also willingness to be re-trained or re-educated here if they possess only qualifications from developing or less developed countries.
