Hi everyone.

I am applying from Colombia to get a study permit. I got accepted at the University of Toronto for a MEng (it starts on fall 2014) and I plan on finishing it in two years.

I came upon this page after almost finishing the filling in of my formats, so I didn't have the chance to take advantage of all the info I've found now.

My profile's this:

I have a bacherlor's in engineering from 2010, graduated with an average of 4.14/5.0.

I presented my TOEFL test (that was accepted at U of T) and got 110/120.

I have also recently finished a Masters in Integrated Management Systems (it was online while I was working), but I still don't have my diploma. However, I wrote down this info on my SoP.

I have worked ever since I graduated, so I have approximately 4 years of working experience. I've had different jobs due to better opportunities everytime.

In my supporting documents I attached a bank account certificate with the minimum required (10.000 CAD) that I got at the beginning of july from selling my car. Additionally I enclosed all of my father's financial supports (bank statements, a Certificate of release and transfer of real estate, and his income declaration for the past two years). He's going to be my sponsor and I attached a letter where he stated that he's going to be my sponsor. I attached this in spanish (notarized) and a translation of the document (from an official translator). I also attached a certificate from a cooperative that I'm an associate of, where they stated they have approved a student credit line to finance my studies. They approved the fee of my first year, but it says the credit is renewable next year (to cover my second year's fee). I wanted to attach my tuition already paid, but I couldn't pay by the time I had scheduled to go (the VFS is in Bogota and I live in another city). However, I have already paid for it just in case they ask for proof. Finally I attached an SoP saying why I want to study that MEng, why Canada, and stating that I have all my family here in Colombia.

My papers were sent on july 18th, and they wrote to me last week for a medical examination, which I'll be having the day after tomorrow.

What do you guys think? Do you think I have a chance of getting my study permit approved? I'm scared because I've read in this forum all these people with similar profiles that got their permits rejected, so I don't know if I stand a chance or not.

Thank you!

I'm sorry, I don't know what SPP is... I think there are no categories, I just applied for the study permit.

I followed the steps on the canadian embassy.

Apply on paper:

1. Get the application package
Document checklist [IMM 5483] (PDF, 156 KB) May 2014
Application for a Study Permit Made Outside of Canada [IMM 1294] (PDF, 334 KB) June 2014
Family Information [IMM 5645] (PDF, 67 KB) September 2009
Schedule 1 – Application for Temporary Resident Visa [IMM 5257 – Schedule 1] (PDF, 367 KB) June 2014

2. Pay your application fees
3. Submit your application: I went to the VFS office because I had to give my biometrics.
