Certified True Copies of Documents

Hello eveyone,

I am a Filipino in the USA and currently gathering my documents for application to Canada.

Where can I obtain Certified True Copies of Documents as follows:

1. Philippine passport for me and my wife
2. Proof of legal status (i guess that means my H1B and my wife's H4 approval)

I tried wth a notary but unlike with other states, notaries in New York are not allowed to make certified true copies of these types of documents.

I hope somebosy here can help me.

1. Philippine passport for me and my wife - Please go to your Philippine Embassy or Consulate nearby with copies and original passports. The best place for you for certification.
2. Proof of legal status (i guess that means my H1B and my wife's H4 approval) - Yes.

I am not sure about that. Try at your embassy. Being a Philippine citizen they would assist you and should give proper guidance.

1. Did you read the instruction?
2. Assuming you are apply for for as a skilled worked, there is no where in the application checklist where a certified copy of is required. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5612E.pdf Only originals or photocopies. Translations of documents into French or English are done by a certified translator, who certifies the translations.

Thanks for pointing that out. I hired the services of an immigration specialist and that is what they indicated in the list. Turns out i dont even need these authenticated after all.
