Hi guys and girls - This post might help you. This is CEC flow which is from my experience.

Now a days CEC Process is:
Application Filed -> Received AOR ( around 2 months, At the same time Canada Criminality Check happens. Security Check is also done at the same time) -> File reviewed by a junior officer ( may be in around 8-9 months, he recommends you Pass/ Fail/Review etc, application status is still as Application Received) -> File lies in queue for a senior officer to review, once Senior officer picks your file, you get MR, and soon the PPR (around in 12-13 months).

Some Junior VO's issue MR but not everyone does it. So that's the reason why few people wait (2-3 months) more after medicals before getting PPR but some get MR->PR very soon. The later ones are the ones where Senior officer is working on file.

Myth: Criminality and Security takes lot of time. For 90% of cases this is myth. CIC relies on PCC we submit and Canadian Criminality they can do themselves. Please understand that for all these details, they just need to run a query on a DB, even for Security. There might be different departments involved but it doesn't involve any manual verification like going to person's home and stuff like that. The main wait time is because of queue and not the process. If CIC wishes and works on only one file, we can receive PR in merely couple of days provided all the documentation is clear and sufficient.
For Rest 10% it may be true if you have extensive travel history.

All the information I shared is based on my personal experience and not from any CIC site.

Its very interesting...ur Medicals and probably MR, PPR, VISA every thing done in September...in 1 month every thing is done

Thanks for sharing! It really helps.

Yeah, thanks for sharing that Dilli.

So i guess I just need to wait till my file reaches the the senior VO...gotta be patient!

is there a way that i can find the status of my application...other than the website (like phone# or email address where they will respond)...my room partner applied in marrch april -2013 but its still under the status of 'document received' status...no AOR yet

If he can check the status of his application on ECAS then he already has his AOR.
Because your status becomes available after about 5-10 days from AOR.

Thank you. This kind of info really helps...

Have him check his spam folder, but might already be too late and it got deleted.
Also, if he applied using a lawyer, maybe the lawyer got the AOR instead?

If you apply through a lawyer, CIC requests to use all communication through the lawyer.
So you have to use their address + email too.

Sorry for digging this old post.. just hoping to confirm if this is still the way CIC works now. I submitted my application back in July 2014, when I called the service centre, the agent told me that my file was last reviewed March 26, 2015, and it says Recommended Pass. But i haven't receive my Medical Exam request. does this mean that they are waiting for a senior VO to review my file?

The agent also told me that the next review date on file is April 30, 2015. Will i be getting my ME request after that? Or is it only when there are problems with my case then a senior VO is required?

Thanks in advance!
