They only let people to enter without visa for a visa exempt countries.

Ive been across border to US and have entered back to Canada via road, I have an Indian Passport (non visa exempt)

They check two things :

1. Valid Visa to enter canada
2. Proof of Status in Canada( Work Permit if you are working in Canada)

Both are mandatory. Also check out this CIC link under Entry Documents : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/apply-who.asp

Hi Harry7171,

Apply for your TRV online, send ur extended work permit. They will not allow you to enter canada no matter if you are coming from USA.

The work permit you have is good to keep working in Canada, once you cross the border, you need TRV to enter even if you have a valid work permit.

Dont ever put your step out of Canada without a valid TRV to come back.

I will Call CIC to make sure this, But I as per my information I know couple of people who went to USA without TRV, and returned to Canada by road only, but first I need to clarify I have never entered USA before, Will USA multi-Purpose visa will allow me enter USA from Cuba or any other country and I can think about entering to Canada via USA only after that

USA Multiple visa will allow you to enter USA from anywhere in the world.

I have entered USA from three different countries on the same Multiple Visa.

Regarding your entry to canada only on work permit, its not possible.

Take a look at your work permit:

At the end there is a Line in BOLD: "THIS DOES NOT AUTHORIZE RE-ENTRY" Hence you need TRV to re-enter Canada.

Yes you need to apply BOWP along with Restoration that means you have to pay restoration fee, WP fee, Open WP fee. There is a question to answer YES for you want to restore your status in Canada while you filling form online.

I remember, i read somewhere that restoration is not applicable for BOWP. please make sure before applying.

I was under that impression too ... You can restore status as a visitor or worker, if it's a worker I think you have 3 months for the company to get another LMIA

Can't say 100% but pretty sure - I'd get legal advice ...

Sorry.. I think I am wrong. I saw that question while I was applying BOWP online but I wan not in out off status at that time.

Pls ignore my previous reply.

Based on this http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2013/ob485A.asp you can't restore your status with BOWP. Your best option is to contact CIC (possibly with a help of a lawyer) and try to get it approved - if you apply for restoration it is likely it will be denied, unless you have LMIA.

Hi Apardhamija,

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=527&t=16

This link does not say you have to be from visa exempt country to re-enter to Canada without TRV from USA

Hi Guys,

I'm August 2015 applicant. As everyone till now there is no update on my file. Recently I got married and would like to add my spouse to the current PR application. Could some one please give me details on how can I add her to the application. And what documents need to be submitted to the CIC.

Thanks,

Hi guys,

I am August 14th applicant and also waiting.

While my situation was a bit different at the beginning now things seem to move maybe.
I applied under CEC while living in Quebec, which is a bit tricky.
I left Quebec just recently as before I had a bound WP with a company. Since June I had my BOWP and Since 2 weeks now I am in BC as I got a job offer here.
And today I received an e-mail to proof that I am not in Quebec anymore.

It is not MR but it means for me someone touched my file and this gives me hope.

That's all just wanted to share.

Cheers

Thanks for sharing!
It is a good news indeed.
Maybe they are checking eligibility.
Is eligibility check is before MR?

Not sure, but my MR was supposed to be somewhere round April / May this year.

Since AOR in September 2014 I had nothing.
For me it is a good sign, at least someone touched the file and wants something.
They will get it tomorrow :) and then I hope they continue ...
