Hi,

We are already PRs and in Canada. I have a situation for which I wanted to consult an immigration attorney and she is charging $300/hr for the first consultation and also subsequent ones. Is this a typical figure? She spoke on phone with me and understood the issue but for in person visit these are the charges, looks on the higher side to me.

TIA.

$300 is quite high, I would say typically $200 to $250 for junior level for senior level it could go up to $400 to $500.. But it all depends on their service tho.. the bigger the firm the more expensive

I already know the answer given by the forum. I am consulting her because she's practicing in this city for 12 years in immigration area, so she might know more about the local practice and how local officers might react. Because of her experience she might be a senior, and I've asked her for a reduced fee but no response till now. Let us see.

ok so if it's a complicated case, or you feel the need to consult her after posting your questions here. I would say 300/hour wouldn't be too bad since as you said she has 12 years experience in immigration. But mind you, express entry is fairly new, so for lawyers they are still learning as they go too. Although for sure, they know a bit more.
