Hi, I wanted to ask how long CBSA security screening (CSS) usually takes to complete once it is in progress? Is there any estimated timeframe based on anyone experience?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Hi, I applied for my GCMS notes and received them yesterday. The notes indicate that my application was transferred to CSS about two months ago for security/background screening. However, the GCMS notes do not mention the reason why my file was referred or transferred to CSS.Im sorry to tell you bad news. There is no time line. They can work/not work on your case as much as they want.
They work on my case since Nov 28, 2023 that is 35 month since my CSS started. Only I did find out that they are doing review of my military background that
I dont have I did my service in civilian sector working for on association for disable persons. And I dont know when it will be done.
I wanted to ask you two things:
First, is there any minimum period of time that I need to wait before applying for a Mandamus application in my case? Considering that my PR application has already been pending for several years and I have been separated from my wife for a long time, I would like to know whether it is something we can consider now or whether it would be premature.
Second, could you please advise me on how I can apply for CBSA notes/ATIP records? I would like to see whether they may provide any additional information about my security screening or the reason my file was referred to CSS.
Could you please send me the official link and let me know what type of request I should submit and what information/documents I would need?
Thank you.
I would like to ask for your advice regarding whether I should proceed with a Mandamus application at this stage.
My wife and I submitted our PR application together on February 2023. My wife is currently in Canada and has already received her PR, while I am still outside Canada. We have now been separated for almost four years, which has been extremely difficult for both of us.
My understanding is that my Comprehensive Security Screening (CSS) only started approximately two months ago, even though our PR application was submitted more than three and half years ago. This makes me concerned that a significant amount of time was already lost before my security screening was initiated.
According to my GCMS notes, my Eligibility is passed, Criminality is passed, and Information Sharing is passed. I also noticed that officer requested documents from me at different times, sometimes after two or three months, rather than requesting all the required documents together. This has contributed to the overall delay.
I am also concerned about the way my file has been handled by the officer. Based on the timeline and the repeated requests for documents over long intervals, I feel that the officer may have been unduly concerned or influenced by certain factors in my case. I do not know what specific reason led to my referral for security screening, and I would like to understand whether there is anything in the GCMS notes that could explain why my case was referred.
My main question is: Do you think I should start the Mandamus process now rather than waiting several more months or potentially years? I am particularly concerned that if we wait too long to start, the court process itself may take additional time, and by then even more time will have passed.
My wife and I have already been separated for almost four years. It is extremely difficult for spouses to remain separated for such a long period, especially when one spouse is already a permanent resident in Canada.
Based on my GCMS notes, the current stage of my application, and the fact that CSS only appears to have started approximately two months ago, could you please advise whether there are sufficient grounds to proceed with Mandamus now, or whether you recommend waiting longer?
I would really appreciate your honest assessment of whether you believe the handling of my file raises any concerns and what you recommend as the best course of action.
Thanks
