Hey guys

I went to a legal aid office and they told me that I can request report of entries to Canada from CBSA and include it in my application which will help saving like a month in processing time ( CBSA TAKES LIKE A MONTH OF SO TO SEND THE REPORT TO CIC OR TO INDIVIDUALS ).

They also told me i can still check yes to the question about contacting CBSA in case CIC need that but if the repost is included and it is recent , that will save them sometime.

Any advice? I am planning to send my application in Jan .

If this is the case and you have time and resources, you should go ahead and do it.

Also can you tell me whats the process of getting the CBSA report?

I called CBSA today and you can fill the form online and will take them 30 days to send you the request . They told me they can send it to me directly and i can include it in my application. They recommended that i put the request like 40 days before i send my application so i get the resport like a dew days before i send my application so the report is up to date . BTW it is free online, if you want to print the form and send it via mail the fee is only 5 dollars and it is the same result

CIC will still request the report from CBSA again. It's part of their process.

CIC will still request that if you give them the permission but if you check no to the question and you included the report i dont see any problem

not to discourage you....but u can be sure that they will verify your documents which you will get from cbsa....they simply do not believe the documents u submit....or else there wouldn't be anything called background and security check. my opinion is let them do their checks as part of the process....so that they can verify the originality of your claimed entries.

based on my previous experiences with them no matter what boat of load documents I submit with my application they double check at their end.

Hi canmanottawa

The link refers to CIC, not to CBSA,

You do not have to pay the $5 when you apply under Privacy Act.

A couple of things on this:

1.) When you check the box yes on the application, you are not only giving CIC permission to get a record of your entries for the four year period pertaining to your application, but also all future entries. Thus, they will know when you are coming and going.

2.) If you don't check the box; they say you will probably have to get these records on your own and send them in. They say that this may delay your application, which implies that checking the box somehow speeds up processing. However, given the extreme processing times at the moment, I wonder if this is really material or genuine? They claim there is a benefit to you of checking the box, but if you order your own records and send them in--you retain more of your privacy.

I asked CBSA report under the access to information and I got it within 4-5 weeks. No Fee charged.
I have it with me and i would like to enclose to my applications but I think that they will double check.
So i was wondering if it is useful to include since they added to CIC process and put a case in the application form.
What is your opinion guys?
thanks

Are you going to let them get the information directly from CBSA? If so, there is really no reason to include it, unless you made day trips and want to specify which entries were day trips or something like that......

Do I really have a choice to do not let them get the information from CBSA?
If I check no for the CBSA case, I apprehend the agent will misunderstood my no.
and If I check yes, it is a double check when sending the CBSA report.
Before, there was no CBSA case in the application form but now you know.
So, can somebody explain to me how the CBSA report will gain us 1 month of processing time?

You don't have to give them permission to access your CBSA file. If you don't, they may ask you for it anyway. They imply that if you give them permission to get it themselves this will speed up the processing time, but given the extremely long waiting time, I doubt that this is true. If you give them permission to get your records, you are allowing them to receive regular updates about your comings and goings (well, really only comings) as well.

Guys
Is there a difference in applying under the Privacy Act or by paying the amount?

Also are u getting it through email or by post?
