Apply for your records, show CIC you applied, if you get no response in a few months, motion CIC to move your application anyway. They can't hold it in abeyance indefinitely waiting for a document from a foreign government that may never come or may only come at some point in the distant future. US CBP's backlog is not your fault. You still deserve a timely decision on your application.
I have already applied for the CBP online. I am just very frustrated because I'm doing my business and needs to travel to the US and Asia from time to time. This episode has caused me a lot of concern, not wanting to further complicate the process by leaving Canada for short travel. How can I "motion" them to move my file? They don't even have a phone no. at local office that I can call. Most likely I will get a letter saying I need to send additional travel informatio/RQ. My major concern is that I cannot even leave Canada, and have to pause my life and business because of this. It is very frustrating and I don't know what the next steps will be.
