Can't get a reference letter...What to do?

Hi all!

I'm applying for PR through CEC and am currently contacting old employers for work reference letters.

For one of my roles back in London, my direct manager has left the company. I'm wondering if anyone has come across this before and what they did?

For more context, I stopped working for this company about a year before moving to Canada and also have a year of Canadian work experience. I'm wondering if I can just leave this job off my application but my concern is that it was on my initial profile so not sure I can take it off/leave it out now, especially as it is the same NOC code as the job I have my Canadian experience in. I'm applying through common law and am not the lead applicant and we were comfortably over the points threshold (if that makes any difference).

Any guidance on this would be much appreciated.

Since you are not the Principal Applicant, and since there is no benefit to including this position in your profile (no points), you could safely delete all your foreign work experience from the profile (that way you won´t be asked for letters of reference). Later, if you get an ITA (perhaps you´re already there), you simply list all your work experience in your background/history document, but no letters are needed.

Alternatively, since you are already in the process of requesting letters, and since it will have zero impact on your application, you could either just get a letter from the company´s HR, or upload a letter saying you were unable to get the letter of reference.

We've already received an ITA. To clarify, I can list my previous work experience on the history section on the application, but when it comes to uploading reference letters, I only need one for my work experience in Canada?
