I tried to find the proper NOC for that particular occupation but i just could not find it, but i have to put the NOC code next to occupation. Please someone with thorough knowledge help me with proper NOC code for the occupation "medical coding".

Are you considering your work experience in medical coding in applying for FSW program? Or you just want to know what NOC is related to medical coding (still chef is your main NOC)?

Maybe medical coding is the same as medical transcriptionist (not sure). http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/ProfileQuickSearch.aspx?val=1&val1=1244&val65=*

I am applying as a chef, but i have to give the NOC for my old occupation (medical coder) while filling the application, but i simply could not find the code in the list.........pls pls i need help urgently

can you confirm if medical coder is same as medical transcriptionist as I given in the link? It's the nearest NOC I can find in your medical coder experience. NOC 1244

Thank you for the reply, but medical coding does not come under that particular NOC(medical transcription) as the description is totally different :( :(. What should be the procedure if i cant find that particular NOC in the list?

can you enumerate your job description under medical coder? I'll try to look for it.

Thank you for the reply. It is transformation of narrative descriptions of diseases, injuries, and healthcare procedures into numeric or alphanumeric designations (that is, code numbers). I worked in office environment (as a BPO (business process outsourcing) associate, not in hospitals or nursing homes.

I also have worked in a BPO environment company where we have Healthcare, Legal, Publishing, Journals department. We have employees similar to your job description. I belong to the Legal Department (our departments main job is encoding and processing scanned images/data that pertains to Litigation or Legal documents).

The nearest NOC I can find related to your work is this http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/ProfileQuickSearch.aspx?val=1&val1=1422&val65=*

Since it's not your main NOC, I think it's safe to put this NOC# if you cannot find any NOC for this in your search. ;)

Actually medical billing comes under 1422, not coding, but as you told it is not the NOC which i am claiming the points so i will put 1422 itself, i hope it wont create problems....

Thank you very much for your reply.. :)
