Hi - I started working in Canada from April 18, 2015, 40 Hrs weekly. Now that I am looking to apply for PR via Canadian Experience class through Express Entry, I want to know how the experience is being Calculated? Should I be calculated as 2 years only on April 18, 2017?

So my eligibility for 2 years will be on 18th April 2017? And after then only I will be able to create my profile? Or even if I wish to create now , I cannot put 2 years?

you are eligible for express entry under cec if you have min 1 year 12 month min 32hr/week work experience in canada under NOC o,a or b job categories, and no you cannot select 2 years, you wil get additional points when you dont get ita by then

The minimum eligibility criteria for the CEC class includes one year of skilled work experience, which you already have. So you can develop and submit your profile now. You don't put the # of years, you put dates, and the system calculates your work experience (albeit crudely, using only month and year instead of mm-dd-yyyy).

Because of this, if the system credits you with 2 years of work experience BEFORE you have completed it (meaning, you get CRS points for 2 years instead of one), and you get the ITA because of that, you have to be careful, it is your responsibility to know when you are eligible for the points awarded.

If you get an ITA, you have 90 days to submit your application; if you complete the 2 years in that time period, and submit your application after you meet the 2 years, you will be able to keep the points for the 2 years. On the other hand, if you submit your application BEFORE completing the 2 years, you will loose the points for the 2nd year of work experience (and possibly loose your eligibility, depending on whether your new score is above the threshold for the draw).

This is very useful! I made this mistake and was refused on the grounds that the dates I entered coincided with my time doing full time school. My CRS points came down and VO could only refuse me and encouraged me to take steps in getting more points.

I dont know whether to apply again on my own or use a lawyer. And if I change dates on my new profile won't it affect the decision?

You can apply on our own without the help of a lawyer. Just make sure you have met the minimum requirements to avoid another rejection. You can post your work timeline before for better assistance.

Whether or not you have the time and interest to learn all the program requirements, or have someone do that for you, is up to you. Personally, I think if you meet the requirements of the program, you have the ability to complete the application yourself, but time & inclination to do so are individual. One thing to keep in mind, if you go with a lawyer/consultant, IRCC will communicate with them, not you.

And if I change dates on my new profile won't it affect the decision?

You evidently made an error in entering dates - you should only enter the dates of your eligible work experience. So no, correcting an error will not have any negative impact.

Just in case this was supposed to be a question - your work experience would count from the date you applied for the PGWP. When did you apply for the PGWP? You probably have one year of experience now.

Work experience between the end of your study (graduation date or last day of your final semester) and the day you applied for the PGWP would not have been not authorized.

Hoping? It's not optional. You must include your spouse on your application.
