Hello everybody! This is my first post here, so I apologize in advance for any format mistakes. I have been reading many posts and have learned many things that will help us in our application. Thank you all!
My situation is: I am an Canadian (born in Canada) living in the US with a green card. I have an American common law spouse. We have been together for 14 years with plenty of documentation. All the steps have been taken and I am ready to send in the applications.
Here is my question, and I'm sorry if I sound stupid, but they don't specifically address this in the guides:
Do I have to send them originals of birth certificates, death certificates (my first marriage ended in my spouse's death), his divorce decree etc?
Also, some of the letters I have from friends and family to document our relationship and intent to re-settle in Canada have been scanned, not mailed through the post. (Especially with a Canadian Post strike looming!).
I would hate to have the whole thing sent back for a simple reason like that.
I appreciate any insight...............
