Hello i am an american citizen who was born in california and just turned 18. My mother is a naturalized canadian citizen along with her parents (my grandparens) and her four brothers. i am interested to migrate to canada (specifically quebec where i have uncles who live) however my single mother must continue stay to in the states to support my three brothers. My main is can she claim me as a canadian citizen while she still resides in the united states. What options would be can i take availing my mothers citizenship? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

Take the following test to find out if you qualify for citizenship. If you do, it will tell you what to do next.

She doesn't need to claim you. If she was a Canadian citizen at the time when you were born, then you're already a Canadian citizen too. All you have to do is fill out the form requesting a Citizenship Certificate. They take a while to process (about 5 months), so get started as soon as you get a chance.

Also, you can enter Canada any time as an American citizen and stay for up to six months, but if you want to stay permanently, you can do so without any fear of being deported because you're already a citizen. Just get started on your paperwork, as that will be something you can show a border official when you cross over.
