Just wondering about this section.

Canadian Police Clearances

"If you or a family member (18 or older) have lived in Canada for the last 6 months or Canada is the country where you (or they) have lived for most of your (or their) life isnce the age of 18, police certificates for Canada are not required at this time. IRCC will make a request for (a) Canadian police certificates on your behalf. Check here if this applies to you."

Who is this for? The applicant or any of her family even if they are distant relatives that happen to live in Canada? My wife has never been to Canada but she has a few cousins that are currently working/going to school there for a few years that we included in the other section on the application.

Does that mean I should check this box or is this only on dependents actually applying?

Just a bit confusing for me so a bit of clarify would really help as I don't want to do the wrong thing for being dumb.

We will be submitting her (NBI Clearance) Certificates for Philippines so no problems there.
