Is there any difference in applying for a Canadian passport on Saturday morning or Monday morning?

If submitted on either days, will that particular day will be counted for processing?

Not all offices are closed on Saturday. The Brampton Office are open on Sat from 8am-12pm.

It makes no difference if you applied on a Morning or Saturday. If you applied on a Saturday, the paperwork won't begin until Monday. If you applied on a Monday morning, paperwork starts on that day.

Thanks Screech. By any chance do you have any idea of how long is the duration for canadian passport if applied as express... I dont want urgent as it is quite expensive.. if it is a normal one they told me that the date will be october 6th which is quite late... under express they say 50$ more but not accurate as to how many days they'll take.. it says 2 to 9 days..

Any experience/suggestions?

Sorry I can't help you with that. I never asked for express so I can't say one thing or another about it.

Felixo we opted for regular processing and got passport after 5 business days.

This is interesting Cloee.

Where this office is that you applied at? And did you receive your passport by mail or you picked it up (with extra fee I believe) at the office where you applied?

Wow thatz nice... I read one more guy saying the similar thing that it takes around 5 to 7 business days. But why I was confused is... when I called up the passport office, I was told that if I apply on regular processing on 22nd September the 10 business days will be till Oct 6th. So I will have to pick it up on Oct 6th. When I asked her again if I will be notified if the processing is done earlier, she said that as it will take 10 business days, the date will be mentioned when you apply for it...

How was your experience? How were you notified about the date... that it got processed in 5 days instead of 10 business days... did you check online? Would appreciate your earliest response.

Thanks buddy.

I think the 10 business days is the usual max expected time to receive your passport, no minimum. So even though you pay for regular service, some have gotten theirs less than 10 business days by luck, probably due to applying for passport at office where applications volume is lower than normal.

Right, but I was wondering how they know that the processing is done... As pick up option is faster than postal, I prefer the pick up option... but how do I know that the processing is done? Can I check it online? Or will I have to call them and confirm...

I did an expiated one (2-9 days) and picked it up a week later (7 days). They actually gave me a pickup date when I dropped it off (which was the next week) and said it will be available after that date.

Keesio,
Do you have to show a ticket/written letter for a express processing.. or is it only for the urgent processing?

I told them I had a trip planned but they didn't ask for any proof. Most likely you just need it for urgent processing.
