Canadian Parents with US citizen child on PR

Hello everyone, we are Canadians living in the US on temporary work permit for the past 3 years. One of our children (12 years old) is a US citizen and has been living with us in the US. We plan to move back to Canada in 2 years. However, my child’s PR is expiring. What are my options to renew his PR?

Return to Canada on the strength of his US passport. At the border explain to CBSA your son was accompanying you which preserves his RO. Once in Canada apply for his PR Card. Out of interest how is it he is not a Canadian Citizen given you are - is there an adoption type scenario here? He may be a Canadian citizen which makes the situation different.
