Canadian Graduates on Work Permits - PR, LMIA

So I just read the new rules today.

CIC’s Express Entry Program coming January 1, 2015

Paragraph 6 concerns International Students:
"International students who have come to Canada for international study and offered
assurances of an easy pathway to permanent residence will now have to obtain LMIAs or
provincial nomination to compete for an ITA. This means that international graduates who
are not provincially nominated will need to have their entry-level job offers vetted by ESDC to
assess whether they are displacing Canadians. Employers of new graduates will have to
demonstrate that they are prepared to pay international graduates above entry-level wages
for the occupation and that their newly acquired skills are in demand in the Canadian labour
market."

My Question:
I have been working as a Project Manager for the last 6 months.
I want to apply for my PR as soon as I have 1 year of work experience.
According to this paragraph, I need to obtain a LMIA.
What does my employer need to do for me for me to be able to apply for PR?
Does my past 6 month+ experience gets counted?

Can someone please advice me on what I need to do?

Where did you read this? Alot of people are applying under Express Entry without an LMIA or PNP nomination. Its all based on the points you get. You are just more likely to get an invitation to apply IF you have higher points (which come with LMIA or provincial nomination).

Here is the statement from CIC website about LMIA:
For Canadian Experience Class (not required but applicants can get extra points under the Comprehensive Ranking System for a job offer)

It doesn't say that you cant apply without it. Just that you have a very strong case with it. You will just have to compete against people who already an LMIA or PNP. But here is the link to the spreadsheet of all people in the forum who are applying under the EE. I am not in a pnp. What do I need to do?

So I do not need to ask my Employer to obtain an LMO from CIC?

You can apply without an LMIA. You get more points with an LMIA. But it is not strictly required.

To get an LMIA your employer would have to try to hire a Canadian and demonstrate that you were the only qualified candidate for the job. LMIAs are managed by ESDC (not CIC) -
