Hey, guys,

I came to Canada for study of master degree many years ago and graduated and started working in last year. I had a 3-month internship placement in a local company since August of 2012, supported by AXIS, before i signed a 12-month contract with this company in Nov,2012.

It seems i am eligible for provincial nominee because i graduated from local university and work under 12-month contract. I will also be eligible for CEC, as category A worker, if i apply after August, 2013 (if internship count as full-time work experience? i work 40 hours a week).

I wonder which way would be better for me, PNP or CEC? It seems PNP takes almost same time as CEC. And, i heard that after u got your RP through PNP, you will have to stay in the province. If you left the province permanently , local IMO can cancel your PR status. Is that true?

I am worry about this because once my 12-month contract terminated, i am not sure if i will still work in this company, i may move and work in other provinces. I wonder if i shall probably wait until August and apply through CEC.

Any suggestions would be appreciated !

Many Thanks !

Assuming the internship was unpaid - no.

I belive CEC is slightly quicker, assuming you meet the eligibility criteria.

If it was paid and it was post-graduation, then it should count as paid employment.

When asking about PNP, it would help to identify the province, since each program is different.

PNP is a 2-stage application -first you have to apply to the province, and then CIC, so it is usually longer (and in some provinces, e.g. Ontario, much more expensive). The benefit of the PNP program (again, in some provinces), is that you can usually get a work permit once approved by the province.

Once your PR status is final, I don't think there is anything anyone can do if you decide to move. But if you move out of province while your application is in process, YES, the application can be terminated.

Thanks Both.

My internship was paid and it is after i received my Post graduate work permit. I guess it shall count as work experience.

My plan is start applying for PNP in Newfoundland now, and if i lost or change my work at the end of this 12-month contract which is in Nov, 2013, i will withdraw my PNP application and re-apply through Experienced Class stream. I am not sure if i will have to wait several months if i withdraw and reapply through another stream??

Not sure if this is a good idea or not....

If you can afford it, it is quite acceptable to apply through more than one stream... There is no need to wait. You'd have to withdraw one before the other can be finalized.
