Hi

My kid is a US citizen by birth and now getting eligible for Canadian citizenship. I understand both the countries support Dual citizenship. However , I am not sure if there would be any issues with tax filing or any risk of losing US citizenship in future. Please advise.

The biggest issue IMHO is the fact that the US requires all citizens over 18 to file US taxes regardless of their residency status. This is a big pain, as I can speak from personal experience. For more details, see:

Otherwise there are not much other issues. A few minor ones are that an American citizen who obtains another citizenship loses a status called "Yankee white", which means you are no longer a "pure" US-only citizen. This will prevent you from getting certain US government jobs like POTUS, head of the CIA and other high level security positions. Also if you join similar type Canadian equivalent positions (if Canada even allows it), then the US may decide to revoke your citizenship.
