Hello Veterans,

Does anyone know if we get the canadian citizenship card at the oath ceremony?

Or do we apply for the citizenship card later?

I have heard they take your PR card away at the ceremony - is that true?

Citizenship cards no longer exist and have been phased out.

You will get a citizenship certificate which will be the document you use to apply for your passport.

Yes, your PR card will be taken away. After ceremony you are no longer a permanent resident and your card is automatically void.

Okay great. Thank you guys.

What about people who already have their citizenship cards though? Are they void for them too now - have they been taken away?

for those who still have the card , still valid until the validity of the card, then after its not valid anymore because there is no renewal or whatever
