Canadian Citizenship Application -- PCC Needed ?

My wife came to Canada in July 2022 on Spousal PR and has been continuously living in Canada since then. She has gone to India once for 1 month over the last 3 years. She is now eligible to apply for Canadian Citizenship.

Online Application tells that she needs to submit a police clearance certificate if she has been outside of Canada for more than 183 days continuously in the last 4 years. She has been in Canada just over 3 years, and 1 year previously to that, she was in India, Country of Origin.

Does she need a Police clearance certificate or not? Thanks for any help

It's not needed. If you read the application guide they say if you were in the country of origin in the eligibility period then it's not required. I don't think the one month stay would trigger a PCC request. If she stayed over 183 days then yes, but not for just a month.

Hi I have similar question , so in this case I do not need a PCC ?/

My wife because PR on Feb 01 2022 and since then she didnt go out of canada , so she has got her eligibility of staying more than 1095 days
Now that we are applying for her Citizenship, there is a question for PCC (below)

"In the past 4 years, were you in a country or territory other than Canada for 183 days or more in a row (since the age of 18)?"

Now 4 years meaning 1 year before she got her PR she was in india only and while we applied for her PR we had got her PCC Done at that time in 2021.

So do we need to get a New PCC again now??

Any info would be really helpful

Thanks

Read what the guy said above you.

You don't need a PCC. You weren't in your country for more than 183 days AFTER you became a PR so you don't need it. But in the online application make sure you point this out.

Hello. Can you please point out link to this application guide you are referring to. I have searched everywhere couldn't find it. I too have the same confusion regarding PCC. Thanks in advance

Seriously - download the form, go through it.

You have to apply online now (I think) but the content is the same.
From the site following is the quotation :
You need to provide a police certificate from each country, other than Canada, if you were there

  • in the past 4 years
  • for 183 days or more in a row
  • since the age of 18
Indicate in the chart the name of each country and provide a police certificate.

You don’t need to provide a police certificate if

  • you were in your country of origin immediately prior to becoming a permanent resident and landing in Canada, and
  • this time falls within the past 4 years

My mother is originally from India, she was on Supervisa in Canada while she got the PR under parents PR category. 1.5 year after getting the PR she travelled to India for 90 days a row (within past 4 years). Now we will be applying for her citizenship, will we need an Indian PCC considering "she was NOT in her country of origin immediately pior to becoming a PR." ?? We did provide Indian PCC during her PR application.

If i understand the timeline above - what you're saying is that she was not outside Canada/in another country for more than 183 days in a row in the last four years.

In which case - she would need to provide a police certificate for every country in which she was for more than 183 days in that four years.

Quick calculation: sounds to me like none.

It doesn't matter if she was there four times for 90 days - it says 'in a row.'

My questions is based on text- She was in Canada when she got PR, she was not in India. She has been staying in Canada post her PR as well. However she travelled for 3 months total in past 4 years ( its less than 183 days). Will she yet need an Indian Police Certificate? I believe your answer was no- she will not need. However just confirming

The text reads:
"You need to provide a police certificate from each country, other than Canada, if you were there
  • in the past 4 years

That's it. Don't overthink it. If in the last four years (as of date of application) she did not spend more than 183 days in a row (consecutive, not total, i.e. in at least one visit of more than 183 days) in another country, then she does not need a police certificate.

The other cases about if those days were before becoming a PR etc do not apply - they are exceptions to the simple rule above.
