In the new guide 5289, under Sponsoring if you live outside Canada, it is noted "Canadian citizens travelling as tourists are not considered to be living abroad"
I wonder if this still applies if it has been over 2 years outside Canada but always on tourist visas?
I still am working for a Canadian company and am a shareholder in it. I still have a home there too.
Looking for opinions please!

The reason this question exists is to determine if you will have to provide proof you intend to reside in Canada.

The fact that you're on tourist visas isn't really the point. Are you working remotely? Living full-time in another country, like renting, living your life there etc? Or, are you bouncing around staying in hotels or hostels like a real tourist?

This is the IRCC definition of "living" you have to figure out, not the legal version for health care and taxes.

Thanks Aquakitty, I guess I am in between the definition. I am only here to be with my wife and am working remotely and renting, not bouncing around. It may be safer to say "living outside Canada" rather than being a tourist. Happy New Year!
