I don't think it's been officially confirmed yet. I'm sure we'll hear something Monday or Tuesday.

It's guaranteed to happen given cases are rising everywhere. Now is obviously not the time to be reducing / lowering these measures.
That’s what I figured. I’m not sure why they wait until the last minute to announce an extension when it’s fairly obvious it will be extended. My wife and I are expecting our second baby December 26th and would love for her parents to be able to be here. Unfortunately they can’t afford to be away for 2 weeks

So I was thinking the date you gave looked wrong. Canada/U.S. border closure was originally set to expire Sept 21. It's already been extended to Oct 21.

September 30 is the travel restriction for all other international travel. That will definitely be extended too.

yes sorry, I was referring to the quarantine act. I assumed it would be extended since you Canada/US border closure was extended until October 21

The government is really waiting until the last minute on announcing if the quarantine act is going to remain in place

Quarantine act is not going away anytime soon. Would plan for it to be in place for December/January. Given that your parents will either be around a woman about to have a child and enter a hospital or a newborn baby you want them to quarantine for 14 days.

Seems more than likely with infection rates rising worldwide that the quarantine act will be with us through next spring as a minimum. Ideally any government should come off the fence and put out a future date as opposed to a month by month extension but guess they are in a difficult situation to both protect peoples health but also to keep the economy going, also important although obviously not as important as lives.

Travel restrictions is difficult one given there could be an argument that if you have strict monitored quarantine then why so many travel restrictions other than the valid argument that it could lead to an unacceptable burden on the health care system should anyone arrive any actually become sick.
