Hello guys,
(sorry its little long)
I am aspiring to come back to Canada through CIC’s express entry system. I am in need of legal or your personal opinion about my past financial history in Canada.

I lived in Canada as a student from 2010 September to May 2014 during which I completed my full time chemical engineering master’s degree in Saskatchewan. After my degree, I worked at various places (non-skilled worker category) in Canada from June 2014 to August 2017, under open work permit.

On April 2017, I got invited to apply for permanent residency and I submitted an application under federal skilled worker program. But my application got rejected under the reason “I am not economically able to establish Canada”, because I didn’t provide a proof of fund. I was in India when I received my PR application rejection letter.

During my 7 year stay in Canada, I racked up credit card debts but I never failed to make the minimum payment. It all changed when I moved back to India, I couldn’t able to afford the minimum payment anymore, so I stopped paying for the credit cards.

My bank gave my credit card balance to collection agency and the agency sent me a letter stating that I won’t be able to get any loan or any credit based services unless I pay the credit card balances.

So I am now wondering, whether am I filed for bankruptcy automatically without my consent or I am not? And if I apply for immigration in future, could CIC reject my application based on financial history in Canada?

I would greatly appreciate if you guys could help clear my doubts

Thanks in advance

Once u pay all your debts it’s all good. I don’t think ircc will reject your file based on your bad financial history unless u were criminally charged for that offense

First off the bat, no one here can provide you with legal help, including me, with the legal training because legal advise can only be provided when a client lawyer relationship is formed through an agreement.

However, civil proceedings are not an issue looked into during the immigration eligibility or inadmissibility. Bankruptcy is a civil proceedings and will have no impact on our immigration application.

Only serious criminality is a ground for inadmissibility.
