Canadian Banking system

When I landed in May, I immediately opened a savings account with CIBC. I later found out that despite having online banking features, CIBC does not allow online transfer of funds from my CIBC account to my HSBC account in Canada.

Is this rule applicable to most banks in Canada?

I'm currently back to my native country and will only be to Canada by Spring next year...so, online banking is the only way for me to make my idle funds work for me while I'm away from Canada....can anyone help?

HSBC seems to be the best for allowing online transfers and wires between accounts. Can you open an HSBC account in your home country and move money back and forth that way?

I do rather advice you to " spread" your wealth and do not stick to only ONE bank. It is better to have at least two accounts and play the game.
