Working on it
I am an American girl engaged to a Canadian man. He plans on sponsoring me to come to canada. Can we get married in america? Or do we have to get married in canada in order for me to come I canada. Does the ceremony have to be held in canada in order for me to be able to live there? He is a Canadian citizen living in canada and I currently live in Michigan. Thank you in advance for any responses or help or links that could help answer my question

The ceremony can be held in either country - or a third country if that's what you want. If you plan on getting married in the US there's no need to have a ceremony in Canada.

Your wedding can be done either in the States or Canada, it is up to you. Just make sure, for immigration purposes and to avoid suspicion of marriage of convenience, to document well the ceremony with pictures. Also, keep in mind that if the parents of any of you don't show up at the wedding, this may be a red flag for the visa officer.
The wedding ceremony can be small, intimate, as long as both families will be attending.

Although, couples US/Canada don't get scrutinized as much because there aren't many cases of marriage fraud from a country such as US.

We did a very, very small civil ceremony (just my husband, myself, and three friends as witnesses) in my home state of Oklahoma (where he had been living for four years due to his job. We did take photos, but no family was present. We really didn't send a lot of proof, particularly compared to some on this forum. Just eight photos with a brief description of each. I placed them in a Word document to easily type up each description, then printed the four-page document on plain paper. The only other proof we included (besides the stuff CIC specifically requires, like our marriage license) was three itineraries showing us traveling together. I do think Americans get the benefit of the doubt in most cases, unless there are some pretty serious red flags.

(Of course, it's possible they saw we were settling in the Saguenay region of Québec - VERY French area, and since we did the forms in English, assumed correctly I was an Anglophone. At that point, CIC would be 1000% certain I hadn't married my husband to improve my situation in life, haha!)

we also had a small one in the US and a bigger one in Canada later the same day. I rode with my husband across the border and only had to stop to have a VR issued
