Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hiya,

Just got an email from an immi consultant. The mail says Canada pr validity is initially for 3yrs!!! :o and extend for 2 more yrs later to get citizenship. But , it's a well known fact that Canada pr is valid for 5 yrs.
Just , wish to know any rule changes happened recently..??? :o or the agent is simply bluffing lol... :P

As I understand it, to maintain your PR visa, you need to be resident in Canada for 2 years in any 5 year period. You need never apply for citizenship and can just remain on a PR visa as long as you meet this condition.

However, after 3 years of living in Canada with a PR visa, you may apply for Citizenship.

Wayne.

The agent is confused or mis-informed. The PR status itself is valid indefinitely but you can lose it if you do not meet the residency requirements of living in Canada at least 730 days total every 5 years or if you commit crimes. The PR card itself is valid for 5 years. The PR card may be renewed every 5 years as long as you meet the residency requirements.

Yeah.. Though so. No idea from where these agents get their wrong info.. Lol..
Anyways, tx for the reply...I would surely, email the agent back asking for the sourse of her info( wrong one though) :)

How long does it take to receive the PR?

Also, what I waited for 6 weeks but didn't got the PR. Then I go out Canada. How to apply? is it acceptable to say: never received, or lost?

It often takes 6-7 weeks to get your PR card in the mail but sometimes longer, up to 3-4 months in some cases I have heard of.

Who is at the address that you gave to CIC? Can somebody there receive your PR card and mail it to you? You can actually not apply for another PR card until you are in Canada again so once you are in Canada again, you should contact the CIC call centre, tell them how long it has been since your PR card should have arrived and ask them if you can consider it lost. If they say yes, you can apply for a new one.

So if I leaved Canada and no one sent me the PR card, then can I apply for the Permanent Resident Travel Document from the Canadian embassy?
