Canada Post lost our package!!! UGH!

My wife and I set our application in on June 05, 2015. We have received no response from the government yet, so I called the CIC just now. The only thing they have received is our payment. They don't even have our application. So that means Canada Post LOST IT!!

What do I do now? I am so stressed out. This is extra time we have to wait for me to become a permanent resident.

It's been 2 months though. And we sent it through regular post. No tracking number. Nothing.

Uh oh...Lesson learned I guess!

FWIW, CIC has been know to lose things, so it's possible that it was in fact delivered...but CIC has lost it. Either way, it's not good.

So do I just resubmit everything from square one? And what about the payment we already made? How can we apply that to the new package?

Canada post is the worst, they lost my PR card. I applied for a new one back in February and I called last week and the agent told me that it was issued in March! Never received it though

Well my package shows "out for delivery" and my pr was granted a month and a half ago.
They are not reliable at all.

If Canada Post lost your package and you have no tracking on it,
you will have to put it all back together and resend it in.

You can print another copy of your payment from the email they sent you when you paid online
When you do resend it.. I would include a note letting them know you did send another
application in and that it was lost in the mail, just in case this lost package finds its
way to CIC in the meantime.

I would recommend you send it though a courier.

I am really sorry to hear that your package has been lost.

Sorry to hear that! When you put the package together again, send it 1 or 2 day mail with tracking. This is not where you want to be trying to save money. I sent mine next day mail and paid a pretty penny for it but someone had to sign for it so I knew it got there.

Sending anything of significance without tracking is a terrible idea. Tracking numbers do not always guarantee the safety of your package, but they can certainly give you piece of mind, and a grounds to launch an investigation other.

I used to work at a national courier company. In my two years there, we found three large envelopes that had been shipped months prior (one even a year prior) that literally slipped through the cracks and were misplaced. They were eventually reunited with their intended recipients, but very very late. Its amazing how much room there is in a sorting warehouse for something to go missing, or for a letter or document to literally fall off the line. The more hands the letter/parcel has to touch, the greater chance of it getting lost.

Insurance isn't a terrible idea either. Canada Post is very gracious about paying out for lost and late packages. Even if your xpresspost document is a day late, they will refund your original payment.

Canada post is terrible. I never send anything via Canada Post, but when it comes time for something to be mailed to me, my person experience is that everything gets lost at least once.

I've had to re-request almost everything I've ever needed to get via mail.

Never send without tracking in the future.

No it doesn't. It's much more likely that CIC has it but hasn't put it in their system yet. This can take months.

I wouldn't trust that. Usually you'll get an update on ecas that the application has been received. Sponsor approval happens fairly early on as well.

The first time I had any sort of confirmation from CIC that they had my package was when I got AOR (2 days before SA) which was some 2/3 months after my courier confirmed they had delivered the package.

The OP says his package was sent on the 5th of June and I see that CIC is only working on June 8th applications for SA now. It is entirely possible that CIC have not put this into their system yet and the OP hears in the next few days with AOR and SA.

I guess its also entirely possible they have lost the package!

Just saying its not 100% that the package has not been delivered, maybe wait a few days as your application is only now coming due for SA.

You absolutely do not get any kind of update from CIC when your package is received.
For me eCas finally said "application received April 2" promptly.... in February, 10 months later.
