Hi,

Can you explain me about the AVR rule and any specific links for the documents for the same. I and my wife have our H1B and H4 extended through July 2013. We just received our medical docs and would anticipate going for landing to Canada soon. Our passports have visas stamped through Jan 2010 only. Do I have to go for stamping in Canada for US H1B at the US consulate to extend it to July 2013 or can I come back with just a I-797 under the AVR rule.

It would be great if you could let me know how the AVR rule works and whether I need stamping at the US consulate in Canada.
