Hi I have finished my one year work experience in Canada and I do have valid H1b to work in USA as well. So I'm planning to go to USA to start working there after filing my PR. Now, Can I resign the current job and leave Canada after posting my application for PR under Canadian Experience Class. or Do I have to be still working here in Canada as my PR application is still under process? please let me know if there are any restrictions. thanks.

pretty sure you can claim Canadian work experience in the past X years.
you can use the CRS calculator to check it out.

You do not need to physically be present in Canada to apply under CEC as it is based on where the experience was gained, that is within Canada.

You don't need to be in Canada.

Make sure you have 470+ points.

Note that if you move to the U.S., then you can't be claiming the 50 job offer points. I assume you aren't.

@scylla why is that? at the time of submitting my application I'm still doing my job here. And only after a week/month of posting my application, I am planning to resign and leave to US. Should I be staying here and doing my job until I get my card since I'm applying under CEC?
could you please explain if there are any flaws with my approach ?

If you are claiming job offer points for the job you are working in now - then you actually have to be working in that job. If you leave for the US, then you obviously aren't working in that job and the job offer isn't real. Surely this is quite obvious?

If you want to or need to claim the job offer points, then you need to remain in Canada until PR is approved before you relocate to the US.

Hello @scylla,

I am working as in NOC 2174 software developer with
- positive LMIA on a closed work permit - CEC inland applicant
- my initial job offer says full-time indefinite duration
- HR letter says the permanent, full-time position
- Already have worked for the same employer for 1 year.

Can you please answer my below queries?
  1. Would there be any issue with PR processing even though the HR letter and offer letter doesn't say "at least one year if you're accepted as a permanent resident?"
  2. Do I have to take a new offer letter in any case or can I use my old offer letter?
Thanks
Venkatesh
