Canada Border Services Agency processing time

Hello!

I sponsored my husband who lives in Lebanon to come to Canada in October 2015. It has been over a year now so I emailed the visa office in Lebanon. They said that my file is undergoing mandatory security verifications and cannot give me a time frame because it is being done by the Canada Border Services Agency. Does this mean it has been approved from the Lebanese Visa Office side? Does anyone know how long these security verifications take at that agency? Is there any other information you can give me?

its been almost 13 month since processing time started , CIC lost my file and requested an interview in may
we emailed the embassy in Beirut asking them about any news and they gave me the same answer as yours that CBSA are conducting security check and that they can't give me any time frame. :-X

Never heard of CBSA conducting background checks !!! very strange , Usually it's CSIS who's in charge of security checks

Nothing strange - perfectly normal. CBSA is responsible for background checks for immigration applications:

CSIS only gets involved in more complex cases.

I have a question , i i know that background check takes longer for people who did military service, and for people who traveled, in my case i had to do mandatory military service for around 6 month, i wasn't involved in any combats or any war, have no criminal record or any bad history , i also visited 3 countries before as a tourist the period of stay was less than 8 days..do they do background check on the countries i visited for less 10 days ?
also my other question is i am already entering my 14 month of waiting..on the CIC site it says that processing time for Lebanon is 13 month.. should i be worried ? or is it normal ?
