Restoration fees is about 500 CAD, and I was wondering if one (who is still within 90 days of restoration) can cross the border to restore their status to a Visitor (after work permit extension was refused), instead of paying 500 CAD online – it's due tough financial times at the moment?

Meaning: Can I go see my family for 2 weeks in Buffalo, USA and come back as a visitor, rather than spending 500 CAD to restore status as visitor inside Canada?

Please, I understand you might be probably judging and cursing real hard. I fully understand this is a forbidden question. I'd appreciate if anyone had any advice or thoughts. Thank you.
