Hello guys,

My wife sent her application for citizenship at the beginning of Novembre. Here is what ecas say:

We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on November 18, 2014.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on January 16, 2015. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing your application on January 28, 2015.

Your file was transferred to the Montréal office on January 29, 2015. The Montréal office will contact you.

If the file has been transferred to Montreal, does it mean they wont return the application because it misses something or is not conformed?

thank you

She will be on queue for a test and interview. The local office will send in the test invite through mail.

The citizenship process goes through about 6 stages.

1) Your application received by CIC
2) AoR
3) In Process
4) Transfer to local office
5) test invite
6) Oath Invite

The final half of application is handled by the local office, so your file is now in the local office the next if all is good should be test invite.

so it could take a few months before she receives an exam invitation?

On average at least in 2mos. But we never know. Sometimes it could take up to few more months. But don't worry a lot. It's already at the local office, so she's a step closer in the process. ;)

I wonder why they say 24 months for non problematic applications, it seems a lot!

Mostly nowadays though, the whole process would take within a year. There are single applications that will just take 6-8mos.

ola!

it depends on where she resides. MB, SK, AB, BC might take one year from 'processing' date to test invite... If she lives in QC, ON, it could be faster. If you live in Atlantic, I am not sure (who cares about maritimes anyways, lol - kidding).

We live in Québec city,

What is RQ? What do they analyze at the local office vs the CIC office in Nova Scotia?

RQ - Residency questionnaire. A questionnaire you receive if the officer doubts that you have not stayed enough or lack of evidence that you have not completed the required number of days for Citizenship.

not sure about the 2nd question but Sydney checks the completeness of the application. If your wife's application was already sent to local office meaning its complete and also the online status confirms that.

few things they check_ security clearance, police clearnace, analize the documents and process them.
at the interview - they verify your documents meaning require the original of what you have submitted, canada knowledge test and english proficiency test.

oath - you take the oath and sign the oath and get the certificate.

if you live in QC, I am assuming you should be done with the whole process (without RQ) in 10-12 months.

Hey guys,

My wife received a letter today inviting her to her exam that will be held on June 10th. So, after that, how long does it take in average to receive the oath letter?? We are in Quebec city and our local office is Montréal.

Thank you very much!

2-4 months depending on the officer responsible for your file.
if you had passed the interview and test - just relax, enjoy summer and wait for the oath invitation.
