I did my soft landing on October 18 and returned to US using AVR same day using the Peace Bridge , Niagara. I have a new I94 and entry stamped on my passport .I am planning to travel to Canada for some personal reasons next week. Can I use the AVR again or is it only valid for one time ?

Yes, there is no count restriction. AVR is nothing but reentry to US hence can be done multiple times with same I94.
You need to have valid I94 and be on status, doesnt matter how new/old it is.
People how move to Canada and continue working in US have to use the current I94 too many times before they get new I94(before they are issed a new I94 at border or new I94 based on new visa stamping).

Hello - I have same question as OP.

I’ve completed my soft landing in Aug 2020 and returned same day. Now, I am panning to travel to Canada (end of May) for some personal reasons.
Can I use the same I-797 and I94 which are approved till Dec 2022. I am traveling with my wife she has her H4 approved will Dec 2022.
Will there be any issues returning to the US? Should I be aware of any new rule(s)?
@sims88 @harirajmohan @lampbreaker

Thanks in advance guys.

Canada has requirements to quarantine for 14 days. But nothing on the US side, you should be fine using AVR.

@lampbreaker Many thanks for the response. I will quarantine for 14 days. I planning to be in Canada for 3 weeks.

Should I take rented car or personal car? My personal car is listed in goods to follow list but, I don’t want to import my car during this visit.

Better to avoid taking your own car. They might allow you however but with a warning that you cannot bring your car without importing it.
Its your call at the end though. Rental is the safe bet.

@lampbreaker @swan0206 thank you for the response . I called CBSA and spoke to an agent. I was told that I can take my personal car when visiting without importing.
Any suggestion(s)?

Yes you can still take your car but again they will remind you not to drive it next time without importing.

The thing is that once you are a PR you would be questioned about your travel since you are not moving permanently but going for a visit. Unless you have a very strong reason like a job or your spouse job or a family emergency be prepared to be questioned.

Just to follow up - does this mean that when you enter the US using AVR, a new I-94 is not issued to you?

New I94 during AVR entry depends on officer, not our choice or necessity to request one since we already have I94.

that's interesting. It's a little confusing, because when I entered using AVR the first time, I got an entry stamp and new I-94. The second time, I did not. It seems to me like there needs to be a standard procedure for a situation like this.

Yes, true. It is their process to follow, not ours hence we should just carry our documents and leave it to them on what they want to do with I94.
