i recently sponsored my wife (outbound application). she came here from s. korea on jan 1 2011 and has a return ticket dated for Dec 5 2011 back to s. korea. we would like to travel in october to the US... would we have any trouble at the border?
can we travel??

Probably not. Bring your paperwork showing you have applied for the PR visa, and proof you will support her while she is in Canada. Also bring anything she has showing she will be going back to South Korea.

Keep your receipt for the fees and your sponsor approval letter handy, and do all the talking at the borders. She is visa-exempt, so there may not be any issues, but just in case, it's good to have proof you are going about getting things done properly.
why does it seems this topic is somewhat of a grey area?? i was advised one of the benefits of applying outbound was that there were no restrictions to travel. i have applied for her PR and her visa extension (which we still have received no acknowledgement as this is severely backed up) .... can someone shed a bit more light
The "no restrictions to travel" refers to the fact that you can leave Canada without abandoning the application. For those who apply inland, it's very strongly recommended they remain in the country for the entire processing of the application (i.e. without leaving for even one day). If the inland applicant leaves and is unable to re-enter Canada, their application is refused. This same restriction doesn't apply to outland.Charlissimo said:
