Every institution has to inform cic about international student, when they registered or if they asked for fee refund or if he never joined anything like that. I got this information from international recruitment page of centennial college, few months back. (If i find that post will share it here.)

One can change but transferring from university to college might be a problem.

1. Only once a year, DIR of school must submit report on student who failed to maintain "academic eligibility" via ENS for the purpose of Off Campus Work Permit issuance. It doesn't mean you can't change school or any effect on PGWP.

^^ enfield

what if someone comes for may intake and wants to change program for next intake.i.e. sept.intake because the program he/she wants to pursue in not available in may intake and has only sept. intake.In such scenario obviously he/she would take drop and cancel admission from the school.so in this situation,

would there be any problem in future while applying for extention,provided applicant has maintained satisfactory academic record and didn't breach any law or rule.

would there be negative effect while applying for off campus and post study work permit?

your reply will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

1. Hold a valid study permit but not attending school, then you will have a visitor status up to the expiry of study permit.
2. On changing school (after registration and 6 months of studies), must request a transfer of 'Eligibility Verification Number' to a new school otherwise you will be listed as ineligible for OCWP by the first school in an annual report by DIR to CIC.

Can institute refrain from giving EVN for any reason?

Thanks a lot for your time and help.

If you are changing schools and/or your program of study but remain at the same level (e.g., secondary level), you do not need to modify your study permit.

However, if for example you are a student at the primary school level and you are moving on to secondary school, or if you are a secondary school student and you are moving on to post-secondary studies, or if you are moving from post-secondary studies to secondary studies, you need to submit an application to modify your study permit at the Citizenship and Immigration Canada Case Processing Centre in Vegreville, Alberta.

eg. if you are changing from bachelors to masters or bachelors to diploma . you need to inform. otherwise on same level do not need to

1. It's not a problem except you can't work even if you hold a valid OCWP.
2. EVN is required only for OCWP application. You can request transfer of EVN only if you have already finished required 6 months of studies for OCWP eligibility at the first school, if not then apply for the new EVN at the new school.

@enfield

Thanks a ton for your help mate.Much appreciated.

Now all clear.

@ms.mech

I am moving from post graduate diploma to bachelor degree.do I have to modify my study permit.?

Where i have to make application for that?

I am not applying directly for bachelor degree because I want to change my field and I have already bachelor degree in business so problem might come from visa office like study mismatch or purpose of visit because I read in the previous posts about the same.this is the only reason i want to change program after landing there.

Thanks

They recently changed rules . You can change from bachelors to masters easily or vice-versa. They recently changed rule last month on 7-11-12. Its mentioned in end of page. I was not updated with same. The rule now applied for primary and high school students only.
