My question:
Is it possible for me to change my closed work permit to an open work permit becasue I have got my PR file number now?
My situation:
I got my pnp in january 2018 through Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP).
I had a post grad open work permit at that time which expired on 12 March 2018. I applied for PR right after I got pnp but because I couldn't get my PR file number until 12th March 2018 (when my post grad open work permit expired) I had to apply for bonded(closed) work permit (LMIA). My PR file number and closed work permit came in May 2018.
According to rules if the PR application is "approved in principle" than a person is eligible for an bridging open work permit.
I have a closed Work permit now and I want to change its closed condition to open.
I know I can change employer with bonded work permit as well but my new employer will have to fill and Pay for LMIA again for me which i don't want.
in short " when i renewed my work permit i didn't had PR file number so i was not eligible for open work permit. I applied through LMIA stream and got a closed work permit. Now after 2 months I've got my PR file number which means my application is approved in principle and now I wanna know if I can change my Closed(Bonded) work permit to an open work permit? or LMIA is only option for me until I get my PR?
