could a person visiting canada take jewwelry and not take it back to her home country gifting it to her daughter in canada...???
While entering Canada as a visitor, you will get a form in the air plane, before landing, to fill up and submit to the Customs officer at the arrival desk. If you show any gift ( jewelry or anything else) exceeding the limit what is asked in the form, you may perhaps be required to pay customs duty. So just mention it
within the allowed limit, if you have only a
reasonable quantity of ornaments with you. If you carry considerably huge quantity, then you may have to disclose it. Otherwise I don't think there could be any problem. Suppose some one find it (usually not), you can tell that it is for your own use.
As per my opinion nobody will ask you what you did with the jewelry. Take it easy as a family matter.
