Can visiting father (US PR) buy 1 way ticket to Canada?

I'm an int'l student from India studying in Canada

My father is a green card holder from the US

He is coming to visit me next month for a few weeks

However he is not sure how long he wants to stay for

Is it okay for him to buy only a one-way ticket right now or would Canada POE officers create issues?

I mean, he's a green card holder of the US, so why would they???

It's possible the airline won't let him board the airplane with a one way ticket. Airlines like people to have two ways tickets in case they're refused entry for any reason.
