Can I travel to US with Visitor Record then come back to Canada?

Hello, I am an American with a Visitor Record. My husband and I are waiting on our spousal sponsorship at the moment. Anyway, with a Visitor Record, can I go visit some family in the US then come back to Canada? Without issues at the border? Thank you.

You can go to the US for sure as ur American citizen. If you have families in Canada, you can also come back to Canada. Not sure If spousal sponsorship in progress counts as family since it is still in progress

Thank you for the reply. I’m just not sure if it’s okay to leave Canada while the spousal sponsorship is still in progress. And if having a Visitor Record is enough.

I personally wouldn't. The border is closed to all but essential travel until the end of July. You'll be at the mercy of CBSA on whether they think your travel is essential or not when you return. People are having mixed experience both at airports and at the border. I would recommend waiting until the border restrictions have lifted so that you don't end up stuck in the U.S.
